Raising Theirs Amplifying Yours

One thing I've learned over the years through my teaching and meeting all kind of people is that we all need each other at different stages of life. The more we empower others the greater our own self-empowerment.  Age, race, status, or circumstances don’t matter. We all need some nice words, some encouragement to keep us going. If you want to feel supported and cheered up, try doing the same for others. It works like a miracle potion; it is simple and free only requiring some time and a compassionate heart.
1.       Lend an open ear; listen.
2.       Believe in them.
3.       Make them feel valued and important.
4.       Be a role model; guide by example.
5.       Challenge them to be and feel better.
6.       Inspire them with your own actions.
7.       Spend some quality time with them.
8.       Walk in their shoes and don’t judge.
9.       Praise them for their small and big accomplishments.
One of our main life purposes should be making a meaningful impact in the world that surrounds us, starting with ourselves, spreading it to our inner circle, and expanding beyond it. Charles Dickens once said that no one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.  In the end it is not about what we get so much as what we give; that’s what makes a difference.

Resolutions as Life Itself

It is that time of the year; the paper and pen and a long list of New Year goals and resolutions. Forget about what we accomplished or didn't last year. Pages are blank and we are ready to begin filling them with new ideas and intentions. At some point during the year, usually at the first set back, something happens and we forget the first hundred so the other two hundred and sixty five won’t matter. Every year we do the same. Planning way ahead of time doesn't always work when we miss fully living each day, when we let the bumps in the road be more powerful than our will to make it happen.
I spent the last day of the year surrounded by waves, the immense sea that’s always there in a constant forward backward perfect movement. This is the motion of life itself. Each step takes us closer to our dream or makes us aware of those things we must change or let go. Life is always shifting and some of those changes we can’t control; same thing with resolutions. In setting intentions we must also be able to be open, flexible, and welcoming to any possible alteration. By keeping an open door for the unexpected we expand our possibilities of fulfilling our goals. Like the waves, it is a matter of letting life flow; picking the right wave that would take us to our desired destination without fearing the rest of them that could bring us a different option.
My only resolution is to refine what I have already done and get passionately curious about what surrounds me; for creative curiosity always leads to a better quality of life where everything is possible.  In the end, isn't that what most of us truly want?
Happy 2014 my friends! Embrace each day and make each one better.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great story by Paulo Coehlo. Real life down to earth characters struggling to find the meaning of life; a mirror of what we all go through day by day. The amazing story of Linda makes us ponder and question. What's life's ultimate purpose? What force moves us? What is it that we should all strive for?
