In the Middle of the Storm

We learn how to appreciate life to the fullest.

Days seem longer, nights shorter but life endless if we know where to look at.

We are forced to search inside, where all the answers reside.

We are struck by the lightning of wisdom and discover who we truly are.

We learn to sit still, and be patient; to listen in quietness and reach out to the many ways the Universe has to disclose its messages.

We learn that miracles do exist, that they are an integral part of our lives, and that we must be aware of their presence.

We become the center, the observers, and the transformers.

And then we realized that the storm has passed, that we survived triumphantly, and heaven is giving way to bright, clear skies and you are sitting right in the middle.

Everything is forgotten, lessons have been learned, and the real you is stronger, wiser, and divinely empowered.

Storms are there to remind us that life must not be taken for granted, that each day should be fully embraced and lived thoughtfully, that we are a perfect creation, and that we are never, never alone in our battles.

Perhaps Love

No matter how hurt we feel, how betrayed or hopeless. When we look back there's only one universal feeling that keep us standing and make us stronger; LOVE. Sincere, real, always unconditional, and free.

The Bad Habit of not Learning Our Lessons

This morning I heard the voice of my ex-husband murmuring his thankfulness for been a great mother and friend; a smart and great woman. Like him, I have heard other significant others thanking me for their life changes, for new and fresh attitudes, for a new beginning they once saw far away from them. Somehow I have managed to keep their friendship because what you once loved, transforms but is always love, if it was sincere. I’m glad for the opportunity of been part of their lives and for the positive changes I helped with but that makes me wonder, why is it that sometimes we finally learn our lessons after everything has been said and done?

I guess is just part of the life process and evolution we all go through. We learn when we are ready, when all the elements are in the right place. Some of them regret this late insight. Some others are grateful because in the end living with a heavy load of regrets is not living and everything in life has its time and place.

As for me, I feel satisfied for the opportunity of serving as a channel of love, for been able to give sincerely , for the gift of forgiveness, for all my collection of happy thoughts, for all that I have been given. For all this, embrace the moment, pay attention, thank all the good, don’t waste your time in places you don’t want to be, be authentic, don’t fake your life, follow your passion or, as one of my children reminded me today “follow your intuition, it has never failed you.” Be there, be present. Be with those you love and let them know with actions, not mere words, how much you care. Life is full of unexpected surprises, don’t take it for granted and do not take those you love for granted either. Chances are many but a day will always come when they are over.

Stronger Than Strong

This is what you must become when unexpected situations slap you in the face and you have no control over them. It could be anything from a simple breakup to unfair events that take your loved ones apart from the saved nest. It is then when you look around and realized that all your achievements have no comparison to the simple things that keep us alive and happy. There are no money or material possessions that compare to the joy felt on a sunny afternoon spent with your family flipping hamburgers on the porch or a quiet conversation with those who came long before you. There are no degrees that could match the knowledge gained by experiencing life to the fullest.

It is true that bad times bring us closer to those who have true friendship printed all over; the ones who rise above any fear and take any risk to show you their solidarity, their support, and their unconditional love. The others, the ones who hide under common excuses were there just temporarily, for a specific purpose that, once attained, forgets the true bond and meaning of a friend. Those are not needed. We might feel disappointed but I heard once that disappointment comes with expectations; if we learn not to expect then there will be no disappointment. In the end though, it is not you who loses, but them by missing the amazing opportunity to show the real meaning of the ties that bind through love and care.

Bad times take us closer to the divine by strengthening our faith and getting to know our real self. It is not about hiding our pain but about avoiding this pain to make us suffer. It is not about faking a smile but about showing our best even when we feel tears are taking over. It is about learning how to feel compassion and understanding for those who are going through the worst because, in the end there are hundreds out there going through a real hell and we are not even aware of it. It is about making time for silence and listening to the inner voice that guide us.

And by the end of an unrest period, everything shall pass away, we would have gained a deeper understanding of what life is all about, the curtains will fall and rise again and only those who became stronger in spirit will remain, with new lessons learned and a new and fresh look at this amazing miracle we call living.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great story by Paulo Coehlo. Real life down to earth characters struggling to find the meaning of life; a mirror of what we all go through day by day. The amazing story of Linda makes us ponder and question. What's life's ultimate purpose? What force moves us? What is it that we should all strive for?
